Description sergiyvovk69 2020-08-29 21:09:52 UTC
Description of problem:
When close a window of non gtk app, for example any qt app, pyqt app, skype, smplayer, vlc, the previous window is not activated automatically. The user have to do 1 redundant click on previous window to continue the work.
When close window of gtk app, the previous window is activated normally.

My desktop environment is mate.
I am not 100% sure the bug is in marco.
I do not use compiz.
There is no such bug in Fedora 28 with marco 1.20.3.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
$ rpm -q marco
marco-1.24.1-1.fc31.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update packages to last version: sudo dnf upgrade.
2. Launch 2 or more apps including non gtk app.
3. Switch to a window of non gtk app.
4. Close a window of non gtk app by mouse or by alt F4.

Actual results:
The previous window is not active. Its titlebar is gray.

Expected results:
The previous window should be activated automatically.

Comment 1 Ben Cotton 2020-11-03 16:44:47 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '31'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 2 sergiyvovk69 2020-11-04 21:32:38 UTC
This bug was first detected in Fedora 31 and exists in Fedora 32 too.

Comment 3 sergiyvovk69 2020-11-04 21:46:46 UTC
The related bug.
Sometimes when the previous window is not activated after window close and alt + tab was pressed, the windows list in screen center is frozen. The user have to do 1 redundant click to unfreeze the gui.

Comment 4 sergiyvovk69 2020-11-04 21:55:30 UTC
$ rpm -q marco
marco-1.24.1-2.fc32.x86_64

Comment 5 Wolfgang Ulbrich 2020-11-05 17:26:17 UTC
This needs to be fixed by upstream
Please file out a report there.

Fedora 33 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2021-11-30. Fedora 33 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
