Description Pedro Sampaio 2020-09-09 20:57:14 UTC
A TOCTOU mismatch in the NFS client code in the Linux kernel before 5.8.3 could be used by local attackers to corrupt memory or possibly have unspecified other impact because a size check is in fs/nfs/nfs4proc.c instead of fs/nfs/nfs4xdr.c.

Comment 1 Pedro Sampaio 2020-09-09 20:57:53 UTC
Created kernel tracking bugs for this issue:

Affects: fedora-all [bug 1877576]

Comment 2 Justin M. Forbes 2020-09-10 14:41:40 UTC
This was fixed for Fedora with the 5.8 stable rebases.

Comment 9 Petr Matousek 2020-10-13 16:01:37 UTC
Mitigation:

While there is no known mitigation to this flaw, configuring authentication and only mounting authenticated NFSv4 servers will significantly reduce the risk of this flaw being successfully exploited.
