We are deep in the F33 Beta freeze, but it seems more and more likely that there's going to be one more week of freeze due to unresolved blocker bugs. If we are slipping anyway, I'd like to propose GNOME 3.38.0 mega-update as a Freeze Exception. The current status is that most packages are built; a few are getting last minute critical bug fixes scrutinized by upstream release team and then released later today and we'll get them built as soon as they are released upstream. Upstream is in hard code freeze so there shouldn't be many surprises compared to 3.37.92. My goal is to submit the 3.38.0 mega-update to Bodhi later tonight. 3.37.92 is already in Bodhi and seems to be working well (there were two issues that adamw found that are both fixed now). If we slip a week anyway, I think it would be nice to pull in 3.38.0 so that we can get more testing for the final upstream release and hopefully end up releasing F33 as a higher quality release. However, if the feel seems to be that we are releasing this week, then I'd rather leave 3.38.0 out: too much risk if something unexpected shows up and we don't have time to fix things. So my proposal is: 1) get 3.38.0 mega-update in Bodhi today 2) I'll make sure it is included in an actual updates-testing push tonight as well 3) accept it as a conditional FE 4) on Wednesday or Thursday, if the mega-update testing looks good AND if it's clear that we are slipping, push it to stable How does that plan sound like? :)
Discussed during the 2020-09-14 blocker review meeting: [0] The decision to classify this bug as an "AcceptedFreezeException (Beta)" was made as it is a noticeable issue that cannot be fixed with an update.
