Red Hat Bugzilla 1872787 0 medium CLOSED Installer uses non-routable provisioning network address to mount virtual media that is not accessible by the BMC addres... 2021-02-22 00:41:40 UTC

Description Tomas Sedovic 2020-09-17 17:02:39 UTC
Document URL:

Section Number and Name:

Describe the issue:

Users attempting to install OpenShift on bare metal nodes with the Redfish Virtual Media feature may encounter a failure where the BMC will try to load the virtual media image from the provisioning network and failing.

This will happen if their BMC is on a network separate from the provisioning network and they have not set up any routing between them.

Suggestions for improvement:

When using virtual media, the provisioning network should be turned off or the BMCs should be routed to the provisioning network as a prerequisite.

The dev team would like to close the bug above as "works as expected", but the expected behaviour needs to documented before we can do that.
