Description Germano Veit Michel 2020-10-07 23:06:18 UTC
Description of problem:

User would like to see the list of events for his VM, like those shown on the Admin Portal. When the VM was started, migrated, shutdown, if there is a problem with a snapshot etc.

It also helps when the user is managing the VM, for operations that might take some time. Customers words:

"""
I've restored a snapshot and I don't see any progress at all. After some time, the padlock disappears and one can "think" the restore process has finished. It works indeed, but it would be nice to see the state of an action.
"""

Comment 4 Michal Skrivanek 2021-06-30 14:44:08 UTC
It's not really that easy. VM Portal shows REST API responses/events as they are happening, but there's currently no "historical" view to show pre-existing events.

Regarding snapshot in progress - that is something that is not reflected in REST API and since VM Portal is basically just a REST API client it doesn't have access to any other information (unlike webadmin where there are "shortcuts" and we implemented additional status view).
Implementing it for VM Portal would mean extending REST API with all this information first.

Comment 6 Sandro Bonazzola 2022-03-29 16:16:40 UTC
We are past 4.5.0 feature freeze, please re-target.

Comment 10 Sharon Gratch 2022-09-28 21:49:10 UTC
Currently the fix is handing the restore operation status only and includes locking the snapshot during the whole restore operation and showing a notification message for the restore snapshot operation result.
Handling all events by adding a separate events view dialog per a VM has few problems and therefore might be implemented as a follow up fix

This bug has low overall severity and is not going to be further verified by QE. If you believe special care is required, feel free to properly align relevant severity, flags and keywords to raise PM_Score or use one of the Bumps ('PrioBumpField', 'PrioBumpGSS', 'PrioBumpPM', 'PrioBumpQA') in Keywords to raise it's PM_Score above verification threashold (1000).

This bug has low overall severity and passed an automated regression suite, and is not going to be further verified by QE. If you believe special care is required, feel free to re-open to ON_QA status.
