Description of problem: I have set up the ssh X11 forwarding on one computer and logged into it from another computer using ssh -Y user@onecomputer I was able to have gvim, firefox and some other applications forwarded to my desktop and use this to work with the server. However, none of the default Gnome applications could be forwarded, they all open on the host. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Gnome 3.38.1 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up the host computer to allow ssh X11 forwarding. 2. Log onto the host using `ssh -Y user@host` 3. Open some non-gnome application, for example firefox `firefox &` 4. See how the firefox window appears on your guest screen. 5. Try to do the same with any gnome application, such as gedit or gnome-terminal. They will not open on the guest but on the host instead. Actual results: Gnome applications open on host instead on guest when attempting ssh tunneling. Expected results: Gnome applications should be forwarded as any other applications. Additional info: The problem can be worked around using either 1) unsetting the XDG_RUNTIME_DIR variable or 2) after a successfull ssh login, log once more using `su - <user>`. Both ways make the host computer forward Gnome applications successfully onto the guest screen.
