Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Hello,

The kickstart file works correctly on my side. Seems that Anaconda can't handle your current storage configuration correctly.

```
Saving storage configuration...
Failed to save storage configuration
'hel is not a valid name for this device
```

Could you please provide us logs from the installation environment. You can find that in /tmp/*.log.

Hi Jiri
I copyed those log files here:
  ftp://fstest.usersys.redhat.com/pub/

Comment 6 JianHong Yin 2020-10-14 10:14:01 UTC
Additional info:
  my host OS is Fedora-34
  and I just tried install RHEL-8.4.0-20201012.d.1 on another host(with RHEL-7.3), it works fine.

  might it be a libvirt/kvm bug?

Comment 8 Jiri Konecny 2020-10-14 12:20:45 UTC
Based on the traceback above, I'm switching the component to our storage library.

Could you please look on why this is happening?

Comment 9 Vojtech Trefny 2020-10-14 14:08:22 UTC
There are two problems:
1. Anaconda tells blivet the product name is "'hel", because the product name is in quotes -- "'Red Hat Enterprise Linux'". I'm not sure if this is a problem with the image or if Anaconda should remove the quotes, but product name "'hel" is not correct so I'm moving this back to Anaconda. the
2. Blivet uses the product name for VG name and "'hel" is not a valid name for a VG. We shouldn't blindly use product name without checking it so I'll clone this for blivet and we'll validate the product name before using it.

Comment 11 Jan Stodola 2022-03-25 13:21:20 UTC
JianHong Yin, can you please confirm the problem is still reproducible with RHEL-8.5 or RHEL-8.6?
Thank you
