RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Prashanth Sundararaman 2020-10-15 18:25:35 UTC
Multipath support is a feature that is required for redundancy in FCP disks on s390x when doing OCP installs. We would need this patch:

https://github.com/dracutdevs/dracut/pull/780

to be included in dracut to support multipath in RHCOS and therefore be supported in OCP.

Comment 1 Hendrik Brueckner 2020-11-05 14:37:11 UTC
Hi Lukáš,

where do you stand with the backport of this functionality? Without this backport and, likely, a z-stream release to 8.3.z, it would impact the multipath support for x86, power, and Z for OCP 4.7.

@dgilmore/hwolf: Regarding OCP 4.7, do we have clarity whether OCP 4.7 will pick RHEL-8.3? If not, we likely require this to be backported to 8.2.z as well.

THanks.

Comment 2 Prashanth Sundararaman 2020-11-05 14:57:30 UTC
@brueckner Regarding OCP 4.7, RHCOS will pick up RHEL-8.3 in a week or two. There is some fixes waiting to happen in RHCOS before it can be picked up.

Thanks for the information.. so we then need only a 8.3.z update for dracut.

@jomiller: Could you put this bug on the list for a 8.3.z that needs to go into RHCOS for OCP 4.7. Thanks.

clearing needinfo for myself as I do not see any questions I need to answer.

Comment 5 mkumatag 2020-11-11 13:27:36 UTC
I'm not sure why the hardware is set for only s390x, we need it even for the ppc64le platform as well. @hannsj_uhl.com

want to follow-up on that - since this is a important item - was the re-base on 8.3 done and will be made available for OCP 4.7?

Comment 9 Prashanth Sundararaman 2020-11-18 13:58:11 UTC
There is another BZ which was filed by the coreos-team which covers this backport as well as additional ones needed for 4.7: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1897384

Comment 10 mrussell@redhat.com 2020-11-19 15:23:10 UTC
OpenShift 4.7 will be on RHEL 8.3 content. The rebase is currently in progress and we hope will be done soon.

Comment 11 Joshua Miller 2020-11-19 15:30:42 UTC
Holger,
The bug is working towards backport. It has not as of today been backported.
