RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

.`exporting-metric-data-to-elasticsearch` functionality available in the Metrics RHEL System Role Elasticsearch is a popular, powerful and scalable search engine. With this enhancement, by exporting metric values from the Metrics RHEL System Role to the Elasticsearch, users are able to access metrics via Elasticsearch interfaces, including via graphical interfaces, REST APIs, between others. As a result, users are able to use these Elasticsearch interfaces to help diagnose performance problems and assist in other performance related tasks like capacity planning, benchmarking and so on.

Description Pavel Cahyna 2020-11-05 23:21:11 UTC

Comment 1 Jan Kurik 2020-11-06 06:48:44 UTC
Rejecting this RFE from Base-OS-Tools QE perspective.
Elasticsearch is not a supported package in RHEL and there is no domain knowledge in QE team to test it.

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2020-11-06 06:48:52 UTC
Quality Engineering Management has reviewed and declined this request. You may appeal this decision by reopening this request.

Comment 3 Nathan Scott 2020-11-06 07:49:09 UTC
Re-opening after chatting to Jan and clarifying the scope in the Summary - there was some confusion there, this doesn't involve configuring elasticsearch itself, only the export of metrics (values, metadata) into elasticsearch.

I think we're going to have to do something (even 'best effort') here - PM have requested this functionality and its available from base PCP (pcp2elasticsearch). If the minimum we can afford to do is check the appropriate packages are installed once the role has been used, that'd be OK too I think.
