Description of problem: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It would be great if we can have some provision from ceph side which will enable customers to use external monitoring tool for example netcool to receive ceph alerts to monitor their ceph clusters. Although I do understand the limitation of our support with respect to configuring third party applications. But if we could manage to do something like how we manage with datadog/zabbix would be good. Use Case: ~~~~~~~~~ - Lets say customer are having multiple applications with ceph being one them, and need to monitor the cluster with a single monitoring tool. They would look for options to have one single monitoring tool to monitor all of the applications instead of using individual tools for each applications. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): RHCS 4.x Additional info: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - Adding one request that came from our customer and the way we found we could achieve it is added in the next comments.
SNMP is provided by SUSE using cephadm: https://documentation.suse.com/ses/7/single-html/ses-admin/#prometheus-webhook-snmp The container https://registry.hub.docker.com/r/janeczku/prometheus-webhook-snmp which is the base for their downstream container was originally developed by Red Hat.
