pynac-devel 0.7.26-4.fc34, when built with Python 3.10, requires pkgconfig(python-3.1).
Requires: python-3.1 factory
I see on multiple places that configure uses a truncated value to determine Python version:
$ rg -F 'sys.version' pynac-0.7.26
901: [am_cv_python_version=`$PYTHON -c "import sys; sys.stdout.write(sys.version[[:3]])"`])
934: if python_implementation() == 'CPython' and sys.version[[:3]] == '2.7':
1037:# word of sys.version), in order to cope with versions such as 2.2c1.
3413: am_cv_python_version=`$PYTHON -c "import sys; sys.stdout.write(sys.version[:3])"`
3454: if python_implementation() == 'CPython' and sys.version[:3] == '2.7':
4649: ver = sys.version.split (); \
4683: ver = sys.version.split (); \
4764: print (sys.version[:3])"`
93: ver = sys.version.split ()[]; \
120: ver = sys.version.split ()[]; \
193: print (sys.version[[:3]])"`
$ python3.10 -c "import sys; print (sys.version[0:3])"
Regenerating the files with autoreconf should fix them.
For all our attempts to build pynac with Python 3.10, see:
Testing and mass rebuild of packages is happening in copr. You can follow these instructions to test locally in mock if your package builds with Python 3.10:
Let us know here if you have any questions.
Python 3.10 will be included in Fedora 35. To make that update smoother, we're building Fedora packages with early pre-releases of Python 3.10.
A build failure prevents us from testing all dependent packages (transitive [Build]Requires), so if this package is required a lot, it's important for us to get it fixed soon.
We'd appreciate help from the people who know this package best, but if you don't want to work on this now, let us know so we can try to work around it on our side.
Pull request to fix the one instance of 'sys.version[0:3]' in the sources: https://github.com/pynac/pynac/pull/363
A new build has been done in Rawhide with that patch applied and with regenerated configure files.
