Description John Kissane 2020-11-30 11:01:13 UTC
Description of problem: AD authentication appears not to work.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Join Fedora 33 to Windows Domain
2. Try to login as an AD user
3.

Actual results:

1. Had to add the following to the krb5.conf file to allow it to join the domain:

    default_tgs_enctypes = rc4-hmac des-cbc-crc des-cbc-md5
    default_tkt_enctypes = rc4-hmac des-cbc-crc des-cbc-md5
    permitted_enctypes = rc4-hmac des-cbc-crc des-cbc-md5
    allow_weak_crypto = true

After than able to join successfully.

[root@F33-JK log]# realm list
xxx.ie
  type: kerberos
  realm-name: XXX.IE
  domain-name: xxx.ie
  configured: kerberos-member
  server-software: active-directory
  client-software: sssd
  required-package: oddjob
  required-package: oddjob-mkhomedir
  required-package: sssd
  required-package: adcli
  required-package: samba-common-tools
  login-formats: %U
  login-policy: allow-realm-logins

2. Trying to log in results in invalid user & lots of these messages in the journal:

Nov 30 10:58:14 F33-JK.xxx.ie ldap_child[2662][2662]: Failed to initialize credentials using keytab [MEMORY:/etc/krb5.keytab]: Pre-authentication failed: Key table entry not found. Unable to create GSSAPI-encrypted LDAP connection.

Expected results:

Successful authentication.

Additional info:

I've this working successfully on Centos 7.9 although I did not have to add the extra encryption options to krb5.conf in that case.

Not related to openldap. Our guess is it impacts SSSD (just a guess)

Comment 2 Alexander Bokovoy 2021-09-29 16:20:44 UTC
Please enable debug logs for the domain section of sssd.conf and provide at least that one and ldap_child.log.

Hi,

additionally it would be good if you can send the output of 'klist -kte' as well.

bye,
Sumit

This message is a reminder that Fedora 33 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 33 on 2021-11-30.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '33'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 33 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 33 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2021-11-30. Fedora 33 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
