While changing the language of the spellchecker, RStudio became frozen. It could be, but I don't know. It sounds like a problem with the rendering engine. RStudio generates a number of configuration files in your home directory, so you could try removing those to start over. But I recommend looking for help in the community forums (community.rstudio.com).

This bug was reported against an old version of RStudio. Hopefully, the issue would be solved in the current release (1.4). If not, please, do not hesistate to reopen the issue to provide new info.
