Comment 7 Fabio Valentini 2022-01-15 19:04:43 UTC
I tried again with zola 0.15.2 (after banging my head against the wall due to %cargo_generate_buildrequires' missing workspace support):

Error:
 Problem 1: nothing provides requested (crate(gh-emoji/default) >= 1.0.0 with crate(gh-emoji/default) < 2.0.0~)
 Problem 2: nothing provides requested (crate(lexical-sort/default) >= 0.3.0 with crate(lexical-sort/default) < 0.4.0~)
 Problem 3: nothing provides requested (crate(minify-html/default) >= 0.6.0 with crate(minify-html/default) < 0.7.0~)
 Problem 4: nothing provides requested (crate(nom-bibtex/default) >= 0.3.0 with crate(nom-bibtex/default) < 0.4.0~)
 Problem 5: nothing provides requested (crate(slotmap/default) >= 1.0.0 with crate(slotmap/default) < 2.0.0~)
 Problem 6: nothing provides requested (crate(webp/default) >= 0.1.1 with crate(webp/default) < 0.2.0~)

- gh-emoji: not packaged yet
- lexical-sort: not packaged yet
- minify-html: can be updated together with zola (we have 0.3.10, we need ^0.6)
- nom-bibtex: not packaged yet
- slotmap: can be updated together with zola (we have 0.4.0, we need ^1)
- webp: not packaged yet

Anybody up for helping with the missing packages?

@Fab I would be like to help. I do not have any experience creating rpm packages but I have created flatpaks and AUR stuff in the past. I also use zola in Fedora so I can help if you provide some guidance.

It would be helpful to have an update crate at https://crates.io/crates/zola/0.1.1 to allow use of rust2rpm which currently generates

Manual packaging will be required https://github.com/getzola/zola/issues/1919

Comment 12 Fabio Valentini 2022-07-13 12:30:56 UTC
We're stuck with packaging sources from GitHub if the packager doesn't publish to crates.io.

The biggest problem with zola is that the packager who originally added and maintained the package is no longer contributing to the Rust stack other than a few random small commits every few months.

Speaking for the Rust SIG, I'd rather retire the package than leave it in this very outdated and unmaintained state, but I'm not sure whether this is my decision to make.
