Description Pedro Sampaio 2021-01-29 20:23:12 UTC
It may be possible to make Wireshark crash by injecting a malformed packet onto the wire or by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file.

Comment 1 Pedro Sampaio 2021-01-29 20:23:42 UTC
Created wireshark tracking bugs for this issue:

Affects: fedora-all [bug 1922466]

Comment 3 Todd Cullum 2021-01-30 00:17:23 UTC

Wireshark as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, and 8 is not affected by this flaw as the vulnerable code was introduced in a newer version of Wireshark.

Comment 5 Todd Cullum 2021-02-03 00:12:46 UTC

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
