Description John Salmon 2021-02-07 23:09:57 UTC
A new version of Random123 is available (1.14.0). And more importantly, this and future releases of Random123 will be publicly available on github. Please see:

https://github.com/DEShawResearch/random123/releases

By the way - I'm the author of Random123, so if there's anything I can do upstream to make it easier for downstream packagers, please let me know.

Hi John,

Thanks very much. Sorry I haven't been able to reply to your e-mail yet. It's on my long list of TODOs :)

I'll update the package here in the next few weeks. I'll also poke other projects like Neuron to see if they'd consider using your releases instead of bundling an old copy of Random123 (https://github.com/neuronsimulator/nrn/tree/master/src/Random123). I think they've made some updates to their copy too, so it may be worth picking up some of their changes if they're relevant.

Cheers,
Ankur

Thanks. No rush.

And thanks for the heads-up about Neuron. I just took a look at their mods. Most are already incorporated into upstream. The ones that aren't address portability issues with exotic compilers and machines (PGI, Fujitsu and BlueGene/Q). I'll incorporate them into upstream.
