Yes, I'm tracking this in Bug #1938036. I'd decided to set the dependencies to `gnome-shell < 3.39` so that Rawhide users couldn't install the extension while it's still broken. In the case of WindowOverlay Icons, GNOME 40 now provides the basic feature (app icons overlayed on window previews in Overview), if not WindowOverlay's configurability for the icon's placement and appearance. So, they're trying to decide whether to update or discontinue the extension. Hopefully they have everything sorted out before Fedora 34 comes out of beta.

Upstream developer sustmi has not pushed any updates, nor commented on that GitHub issue in a while. Since vanilla GNOME 40 now implements at least WindowOverlay Icons's main feature, I imagine maintaining the extension just to add slightly more display options doesn't seem worth the effort anymore. With the f34 final freeze approaching, I guess I will have to retire this package after all. Retired as of commit 28e3797b03. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1938036 ***
