RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Mark Pearson 2021-03-19 12:54:40 UTC
Description of problem: Patch upstream in libwacom for adding X1Y6 panel ID for Wacom support.
https://github.com/linuxwacom/libwacom/pull/370

More panel IDs - can we get this into RHEL please?
We can do testing when available - I don't believe we've shipped a X1Y6 to you guys yet as it's still in proto.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible: 100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use stylus with X1Y6 - it's not shown under wacom device setting
2.
3.

Actual results: No stylus shown

Expected results: Stylus shown

Comment 1 Carlos Soriano 2021-03-22 10:22:16 UTC
Is this intended for RHEL 8.5? It's probably too late for RHEL 8.4 hw enablement.

Comment 2 Carlos Soriano 2021-03-22 11:48:35 UTC
Peter pointed out to me this is fairly trivial and we most likely won't consider it as hw enablement, since it should be supported in the kernel already and this is mostly about making sure it appears in GNOME control center i.e. the hw is actually exposed and discoverable through libinput.

I guess the question is mainly whether 8.4 z-stream would be good enough for you Mark, since it's too late in the 8.4 cycle regardless of how simple the patch is - the current 8.4 phase it's mostly just for installer crashes or other high impact issues. We should get these type of requests/code way earlier.

Checking the dates you shared with us for the yoga x6 in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1898378, and the z-stream dates I have access to (suggest to change), the earliest this could go to GA is a few days later than your system's launch GA - does that work, or even a day late is too late?

Comment 3 Mark Pearson 2021-03-22 15:12:46 UTC
Hi Carlos,

Understood on the dates - no problems if this comes out later than GA, as you point out, the pen works it's jsut not configureable in Gnome so it's not high priority.
I'll work with the team and see what we can do to get this info out earlier in the cycle - it would be nice to catch these new IDs at proto/SIT stage instead of just before we release :)

Thanks!
Mark

Mark, since we don't have the HW could you possibly take a look at the new libwacom package? I can provide the rpm if necessary.

Comment 12 Mark Pearson 2021-06-07 19:33:23 UTC
David has one of those so he can help out.

I emailed you libwacom-1.6-3.el8.x86_64.rpm, please take a look! Thanks.

This looks to be the same version that is in the 8.5 release, I did an update with force to replace the existing package with the one sent and I can now see the stylus configuration and tablet configuration screens that were not available before
