Please branch and build softhsm for epel8, as it's needed for building swtpm which we're also trying to build for epel8 (#1939674) and the version in RHEL / CentOS Stream is part of a non-default module stream (#1942240). I tested a mockbuild of the rawhide branch and it seems to work fine out of the box. Also happy to do this myself if you prefer, just add me a co-maintainer for the EPEL branch in case (FAS: dcavalca). Thanks!
I was not sure about the guidelines about EPEL 8 and other streams but as far as I see, we should be able to provide sofhtsm in epel8 as long as the package is not provided in the default stream (AFAIK it is only in IDM stream): https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/GuidelinesAndPolicies#Policy
paul@thinkpad:~/fedora/softhsm (rawhide=)$ fedpkg request-branch epel8 Could not execute request_branch: This package is already an EL package and is built on all supported arches, therefore, it cannot be in EPEL. If this is a mistake or you have an exception, please contact the Release Engineering team.
Thanks, I've asked on #epel and it sounds like this warrants an exception, so I've filed https://pagure.io/releng/issue/10074 with releng.
The releng ticket has been resolved and the epel8 branch has been created, so we should be able to move forward here.
This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.
