Description Ondrej Dubaj 2021-03-25 12:41:17 UTC
Your package fails to build with the newest upcoming autoconf-2.71, which is part of a wide Fedora change. Please see the attached copr: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/odubaj/autoconf-2.70/packages/. More information about testing your package when building with autoconf available here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Autoconf_271#How_To_Test

Comment 1 Ondrej Dubaj 2021-04-12 07:07:30 UTC
Gentle ping.

Comment 2 Richard W.M. Jones 2021-04-12 07:15:08 UTC
This package has:

binutils/aclocal.m4:m4_if(m4_defn([AC_AUTOCONF_VERSION]), [2.69],,

(and in several other places).

https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=blob;f=binutils/aclocal.m4;h=a877fa7f873d345528289703150cf1ef1899cd38;hb=HEAD#l15

It will require upstream an fix.

Comment 3 Ondrej Dubaj 2021-05-04 07:34:51 UTC
Hello, any updates from upstream ?

Comment 4 Richard W.M. Jones 2021-05-04 08:50:10 UTC
I've not even tried. If this is important I would suggest pursuing the
changes necessary with upstream. Fedora only deals with packaging and
the clear choice upstream is to remain with 2.69, until I hear otherwise.

Comment 5 Ondrej Dubaj 2021-05-04 09:02:35 UTC
If I understand it correctly, upstream refuses to move to version 2.69 also in the future ? Then we should create a downstream patch to resolve the problems.

Comment 6 Ondrej Dubaj 2021-05-04 09:03:04 UTC
...move to version 2.71...

Comment 7 Richard W.M. Jones 2021-05-04 09:14:12 UTC
No I didn't say that. I said that if this is important, please contact
upstream and/or send them patches to move to autoconf 2.71.

Comment 8 Sandro Mani 2021-07-24 21:36:26 UTC
The dependency on autoconf is removed from mingw-binutils.
