Tried starting the daemon.
[root@magna031 tmp]# systemctl start ceph-immutable-object-cache
[root@magna031 tmp]# systemctl status ceph-immutable-object-cache
● ceph-immutable-object-cache.service - Ceph immutable object cache daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ceph-immutable-object-cache@.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) (thawing) since Thu 2021-04-01 21:35:13 UTC; 3s ago
Main PID: 2515163 (ceph-immutable-)

Apr 01 21:35:13 magna031 systemd[1]: Started Ceph immutable object cache daemon.
1. Is it ok for the daemon to stop by systemd? Is it expected?
2. Active: active (running) (thawing). What does thawing indicate?
1. Thanks I will update this BZ if it reproduces again 2. Are you testing on RHEL 8.3? What version of systemd is in use? Yes I am testing on Rhel 8.3. [root@magna031 ~]# cat /etc/os-release NAME="Red Hat Enterprise Linux" VERSION="8.3 (Ootpa)" [root@magna031 ~]# systemctl --version systemd 239 (239-40.el8) Even if I stop and start the ceph-immutable-object-cache daemon I see this Active: active (running) (thawing) since Fri 2021-04-09 20:01:31 UTC; 1 weeks 2 days ago Thanks Ilya. I will close this after verifying the issue with the corresponding systemd version Working on this. Looks like RHEL 8.3 doesn't have the systemd version required will test on RHEL 8.4 and update. QA verified on RHEL 8.4
[root@ceph-hary-1622989934418-node1-mon-mgr-installer-node-exporter-a ceph]# cat /etc/os-release
NAME="Red Hat Enterprise Linux"
VERSION="8.4 (Ootpa)"
[root@ceph-hary-1622989934418-node1-mon-mgr-installer-node-exporter-a ceph]# systemctl --version
systemd 239 (239-45.el8)
1. systemctl status ceph-immutable-object-cache
make sure the status is active
2. stop the service and start
3. status should be active (thawing is not seen)
