RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 7 peyu 2021-04-23 01:51:02 UTC
Pending on new build of cockpit-242-1.el8 to verify this bug.

Comment 9 Sandro Bonazzola 2021-05-20 07:36:30 UTC
Can this be backported to 8.4.z?

Comment 10 peyu 2021-05-20 09:00:08 UTC
Since there is no new RHVH build based on rhel8.5 and cockpit-242-1.el8, QE tried to verify this bug by manually installing cockpit-242-1.el8.x86_64.rpm on rhvh-4.4.6.1-0.20210505.0+1
But this bug can still be reproduced.

Test steps:
1. Install redhat-virtualization-host-4.4.6-20210505.0.el8_4
2. Download cockpit-242-1.el8.x86_64.rpm and install
   # rpm -Uvh cockpit-242-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
3. Reboot rhvh
4. Login to cockpit and check the “MAC” drop-down list in “Bond Settings” page

Test results:
The contents of the drop-down list still cannot be fully displayed.

Comment 11 Martin Pitt 2021-05-20 11:04:34 UTC
peyu: You'll need cockpit-system RPM to test this; cockpit.rpm is just a metapackage, updating only that one will change nothing.

@Sandro: Technically principle yes, we just usually do this for high-profile bugs only. This is a BaseOS package, so there are no AppStream releases (8.4.1), and this this isn't the kind of data loss/security bug that easily gets a z-stream (8.4.0.z) approval.

Comment 12 peyu 2021-05-21 02:16:14 UTC
Thanks Martin. QE verified this bug by manually installing cockpit-242-1.el8 on rhvh-4.4.6.1-0.20210505.0+1

Test steps:
1. Install redhat-virtualization-host-4.4.6-20210505.0.el8_4
2. Download cockpit-242-1.el8 and install
   # curl -O http://download.eng.bos.redhat.com/brewroot/vol/rhel-8/packages/cockpit/242/1.el8/x86_64/cockpit-242-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
   # curl -O http://download.eng.bos.redhat.com/brewroot/vol/rhel-8/packages/cockpit/242/1.el8/noarch/cockpit-system-242-1.el8.noarch.rpm
   # curl -O http://download.eng.bos.redhat.com/brewroot/vol/rhel-8/packages/cockpit/242/1.el8/x86_64/cockpit-bridge-242-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
   # rpm -Uvh cockpit-*
3. Reboot rhvh
4. Login to cockpit and check the “MAC” drop-down list in “Bond Settings” page

The contents of the drop-down list are fully displayed.
