Description Udi Kalifon 2021-04-09 09:08:42 UTC
Description of problem:
I booted and discovered 3 masters with 142GB memory and 32GB disk space (single disk only), and 3 workers with 16GB memory and 185GB disk space (again just 1 disk). I enabled OCS and got this validation failure:

"Insufficient Resources to deploy OCS in Minimal Mode. A minimum of 51 RAM GB, excluding disk RAM resources 3 Disks of minimum 5GB is required 3 Hosts with disks, is required."

The message is very unclear. What does it mean "excluding disk RAM resources"? I also think that the 5GB requirements is not related to the disk size, but to the additional RAM requirement per disk. Also the sentence ends with "is required" which seems like not connected to anything in the sentence.

I propose the following alternative wording:
Insufficient Resources to deploy OCS in Minimal Mode. Requirements are:
1) At least 3 OCS disks
2) Additional 51GB of RAM on the worker nodes, and another 5GB RAM per OCS disk
3) 18 additional CPUs on the worker nodes, and another 2 CPUs per OCS disk

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot and discover 3 masters and 3 workers, with only enough resources for OCP without OCS

Additional info:
No disk size checks being done at the moment

When I added resources to the workers, and brought them up to 64GB RAM each, and 327GB disk space each, the error message was also confusing:
"Insufficient Resources to deploy OCS in Minimal Mode. A minimum of 51 RAM GB, excluding disk RAM resources is required"
