RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Description of problem:
SCAP-Security-Guide (SSG) contains configuration hardening advice of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and other products. Some customers are contributing fixes directly to upstream. The expectation is that we ship these fixes/improvements along the RHEL update release. One of our customers has observed that this package was last updated in 2017, and the previous request to rebase this package (bugzilla #1410914) appears to have been resolved in 2017 via bug advisory RHBA-2017:2064.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL 7,.9
Actual results:
The OpenSCAP reports are from 2017.
Expected results:
The OpenSCAP reports should be from newer than 2017.
Hello Jessica, it is not a correct observation, I am afraid - the latest rebase happened as part of Bug 1665233 and customers got it in December. There's another rebase in works as part of batch update 5.
For posterity - we consider rebases as a delivery mechanism, and it is quite unexpected from a customer to ask for a rebase. I would much rather know what is the feature / upstream contribution that customer wants to get backported into RHEL. That's something we can work with, and prioritize accordingly :)
I am going to close the BZ as CLOSED/CURRENTRELEASE but feel free to reopen it, if the problem is about something more than just a rebase.
our current version of OpenSCAP for RHEL 7 is using benchmark version 2.2.0, which is older than the most recent version available available from the CIS website (currently 3.0.1).
This bug is a duplicate, therefore I am closing it. Please follow the other BZ for tracking of further progress. If you feel that it is not a duplicate, feel ree to reopen it.
