RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Richard W.M. Jones 2021-05-10 20:11:18 UTC
This bug was initially created as a copy of Bug #1959154

Virt-what doesn't recognize VMware VMs for AARCH64/ARM (with licensing implications in ESXi Fling for ARM and Fusion v.Next for ARM). I've created and attached a patch that adds both support for recognizing ESXi and the automated tests for it.

Patch added upstream:
http://git.annexia.org/?p=virt-what.git;a=commit;h=09094be5f2afa21bb5b8221580303f125fd90d0c

Rich - assigning directly to you so that this doesn't get lost on virt-maint's backlog queue of Triaged bugs (the keyword gets set as soon as ITR or devel_ack+ is set).

Hi Razvan Corneliu C.R. VILT,

Could you help set up a CentOS 9 Stream VM with https://odcs.stream.centos.org/production/latest-CentOS-Stream/compose/BaseOS/aarch64/os/? We need to verify this bug ASAP, thanks.

Comment 6 YongkuiGuo 2021-08-16 02:48:58 UTC
Changed the ITM and DTM from 24 to 26 because we cannot reach out to the reporter right now and we don't have the test env for verification.

My colleague(ldu) managed to install rhel9 VM on ESXi for ARM. Verified with package:
virt-what-1.21-1.el9.2.aarch64

Steps:

1. On rhel9 VM
[root@dhcp19-243-211 ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.0 Beta (Plow)
[root@dhcp19-243-211 ~]# rpm -q virt-what
virt-what-1.21-1.el9.2.aarch64
[root@dhcp19-243-211 ~]# virt-what
vmware
