Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Alice Mitchell 2021-06-01 15:04:29 UTC
NFS v2 is no longer supported, and with dropping support from the kernel should any changes be made to the userland tools to reflect this.

Comment 2 Yongcheng Yang 2021-11-03 08:50:48 UTC
Hi Alice, do we still have something to update on this v2 removal issue?

Comment 3 Alice Mitchell 2021-11-25 15:49:37 UTC
Whilst it appears that v2 has been disabled in the server for some time already patches will be shortly forthcoming to disable it in the client as well, for now there are no plans to enforce it in nfs-utils as its upto the kernel to deny the option.

Comment 4 Dave Wysochanski 2021-12-17 20:51:04 UTC
I believe this is still waiting on upstream acceptance of nfs-utils patches. I think last set was posted on Dec 8 https://marc.info/?l=linux-nfs&m=163898102303499&w=4

Comment 9 Yongcheng Yang 2022-01-17 03:15:23 UTC
Have checked all commits are applied and regression tests work okay.

Comment 11 Yongcheng Yang 2022-01-25 07:41:08 UTC
(In reply to Yongcheng Yang from comment #9)
> Have checked all commits are applied and regression tests work okay.

Minor update for 3 man page files have been merged now.

Comment 13 Alice Mitchell 2022-02-19 17:18:17 UTC
As the earlier comments say this has been unsupported for many years, these changes are just a tidyup to remove no longer used code and options from the utils, a similar effort is underway upstream towards removing the kernel side code as well.

Comment 14 Dave Wysochanski 2022-03-18 19:00:08 UTC
Michal and Alice, are you ok with the simple Doc Text?

Comment 15 Alice Mitchell 2022-03-21 10:36:41 UTC
I'm wondering if 'no longer supported' is quite the right phrasing, it hasn't been supported for many years but with these changes it is no longer possible to re-enable it, how best to phrase that and if its worth the distinction i leave to others.
