RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description mxie@redhat.com 2021-06-30 01:44:17 UTC
Description of problem
Remove remove all info about glance and disable -o glance feature on rhel9

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
virt-v2v-1.45.1-1.el9.1.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Check glance info in v2v related man pages

#man virt-v2v-output-openstack
....
        virt-v2v [-i* options] -o glance
.....
 -o glance
           Full description: "OUTPUT TO GLANCE"

This is the old method for uploading to Glance. Unfortunately Glance is not well suited to
storing converted guests (since virt-v2v deals with "pets" not templated "cattle"), so this
method is not recommended unless you really know what you are doing.
....
OUTPUT TO GLANCE
Note this is a legacy option. In most cases you should use "OUTPUT TO OPENSTACK" instead.
.....

#man virt-v2v
....
       --no-copy
          .....
This option is not compatible with -o glance for technical reasons.
       -o glance
This is a legacy option. You should probably use -o openstack instead.

Set the output method to OpenStack Glance. In this mode the converted guest is uploaded to
           Glance. See virt-v2v-output-openstack(1).

   Resource requirements
....
       -o glance
This temporarily places a full copy of the output disks in $VIRT_V2V_TMPDIR (or /var/tmp).
....
       Writing to Glance
This does not need root (in fact it probably won’t work), but may require either a special
user and/or for you to source a script that sets authentication environment variables.
           Consult the Glance documentation.

#virt-v2v --help
.....
  -o <glance|json|libvirt|local|null|openstack|qemu|rhv|rhv-upload|vdsm>

2.Convert a guest from VMware to glance by v2v
# virt-v2v -ic vpx://root.198.169/data/10.73.199.217/?no_verify=1 -it vddk -io vddk-libdir=/home/vddk7.0 -io vddk-thumbprint=B5:52:1F:B4:21:09:45:24:51:32:56:F6:63:6A:93:5D:54:08:2D:78 esx7.0-rhel8.3-x86_64 -ip /home/passwd -o glance -of qcow2
sh: line 1: glance: command not found
virt-v2v: error: glance: glance client is not installed or set up
correctly. You may need to set environment variables or source a script to
enable authentication. See preceding messages for details.

If reporting bugs, run virt-v2v with debugging enabled and include the
complete output:

  virt-v2v -v -x [...]

Actual results:
1.Can't install python3-glanceclient on rhel9 because python3-pyOpenSSL package has been removed from HighAvailability repo in RHEL9 nightly composes
