Description Richard Shaw 2021-07-15 12:04:39 UTC
Many of the packages in Fedora can be updated to use OpenEXR 3 but also depend on OpenCV which does not, therefore the whole stack cannot be upgraded.

Tracking bug for the upstream issue:

https://github.com/opencv/opencv/issues/20419

Comment 1 Sergio Basto 2021-07-16 14:44:58 UTC
where is the builds against OpenEXR 3 ?

I' like update opencv to opencv 4.5.3 https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/sergiomb/opencv/package/opencv/

Comment 2 Nicolas Chauvet (kwizart) 2021-07-16 15:03:45 UTC
It looks fine for rawhide, I don't know about abi stability for stable fedoras...

Comment 3 Richard Shaw 2021-07-16 15:10:29 UTC
I've been using a COPR since building it would break most of the packages.

If you want to ask permission I'll add you.

Plan is to build for Rawhide only at this time.

Comment 4 Sergio Basto 2021-07-16 15:16:46 UTC
requested permissions for project 'openexr'.

Comment 5 Sergio Basto 2021-07-17 00:46:43 UTC
4.5.3-1.fc35 built with openexr-devel 3.0.5-1.fc35 without problems ...

Comment 6 Richard Shaw 2021-07-17 02:53:19 UTC
Awesome! That keeps me from having to keep a lot of packages on 2.5!

Comment 7 Sergio Basto 2021-07-17 03:06:08 UTC
I think openexr on opencv mainly exist for reading reading .exr files.
so I think openexr is not an indispensable feature and in worst case we can temporarily turn it off , I think .
