Cloned the bug to backport PR to 4.8:
https://github.com/openshift-kni/performance-addon-operators/pull/692
The PR has some test fix & a new test that validates this bug automatically.
The bot needs a valid open bug for 4.8 in the title in order to do the merge properly.
