Description Dumitru Ceara 2021-07-30 20:04:25 UTC
Description of problem:

ovn-controller already automatically trims memory (malloc_trim()) when it detects that the lflow cache usage went down significantly [0]. This was done on the assumption that the lflow-cache is the highest memory consumer in ovn-controller. That's likely not the case anymore so, in lack of a better way to detect when to automatically trim memory, it might make sense to perform this periodically, e.g., every 5 minutes (configurable through an OVN external_id in the local Open_vSwitch ovsdb table).
