Description Fabio Pedretti 2006-07-14 13:11:53 UTC
Description of problem:
Sometimes some parts of the screen are corrupted, as can be seen on the attached
screenshot (look at "Ogni Stato Combo Box", "Oggetto (stato) bar" and
"Descrizione bar"). Seems that this problem appear randomly, especially on KDE
and Firefox widget (I am using gtk-qt).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
I am using an up to date FC5 system.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you
have provided above, and there is some additional information we
require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) to the
bug report as individual uncompressed file attachment using the
bugzilla file attachment link below.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach
this information.

Thanks in advance.

Now I have updated to FC6. I can't no more show the problem (however before
considering the bug fixed I'd like to try for some days, because the problem
appeared only some time).
However I have a similar problem: now the screen corruption appears when using
accelerated graphics with DRI: I can clearly see this when enabling compiz or
running gnash with OpenGL backend: seems the graphics has few colors and when
the mouse goes over the image became corrupt.
I attach
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
and
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
of the new FC6

Comment 7 Fabio Pedretti 2006-11-22 10:05:25 UTC
Additional note:
1) The corruption with DRI appeared even with FC5.
2) I have tried "intel" driver as well as "i810", getting the same results.
3) When DRI is disabled I see no corruption, but obsiviously rendering (e.g.:
gnash) is very slow.

Attach your current /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and then try to restart without the one
(i.e., move it somewhere else). Magic of Xorg should fill in the blanks. Then
attach both new /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Thanks a lot.

Already attached before:

I moved away my /etc/X11/xorg.conf , but the X server does not restart without that.

Comment 10 Matěj Cepl 2006-11-23 12:35:47 UTC
Sorry, but /var/log/Xorg.0.log from failed attempt to restart X would be very
helpful. Please, attach it to this bug as well.

Comment 12 Fabio Pedretti 2006-11-23 13:03:42 UTC
And I confirm I am still getting the screen corruption similar to that showed in
my previous attachment:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=132429

Comment 13 Matěj Cepl 2007-12-10 09:23:56 UTC
Fedora Core 6 is no longer supported, could you please reproduce this with the
updated version of the currently supported distribution (Fedora 7, 8, or
Rawhide)? If this issue turns out to still be reproducible, please let us know
in this bug report. If after a month's time we have not heard back from you, we
will have to close this bug as CANTFIX.

Setting status to NEEDINFO, and awaiting information from the reporter.

[This is mass-filed message to all open Fedora Core 6 bugs related to Xorg or
Gecko. If you see any other reason, why this bug shouldn't be closed, please,
comment on it here.]

Comment 14 Fabio Pedretti 2007-12-10 12:13:03 UTC
I've recently upgraded to FC8, and seems the bug was gone (however I rarely use
this machine so the bug could still be present).
