Description Guilherme de Almeida Suckevicz 2021-08-10 20:34:18 UTC
A flaw in the Linux kernel on powerpc-systems can allow a local user to cause a denial of service and panic the system when issuing the 'perf record' command.

Any of the following conditions must be met to be capable to abuse this flaw:

- The root user is issuing the command
- The process issuing the 'perf record' has CAP_PERFMON, CAP_SYS_PTRACE or CAP_SYS_ADMIN
- The kernel sysctl kernel.perf_event_paranoid = -1 is set.
