Description Ilanit Stein 2021-08-23 09:23:30 UTC
Description of problem:
Please add the prerequisites mentioned in Bug 1996580 - "[Doc] Highlight the MTV prerequisites in MTV-2.1 documentation" to the MTV operator install page.

Either display the prerequisites or redirect to related docs.
Possible option can be to have this added in the page that asks to create Forklift controller.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
MTV-2.1

Comment 1 Fabien Dupont 2021-08-23 12:09:56 UTC
This page is not supposed to be the documentation for the product. It is a description of the features provided by MTV. This is why documentation exists.

Over time, as we add new features, the page will become unreadable.
The prerequisites mentioned in Bug 1996580 are mostly specific to VMware and they already represent a great amount of text. It will become even longer with RHV, and hooks, and OpenStack, etc...
In my opinion, the best we can do is point to the official documentation.

Comment 2 Fabien Dupont 2021-08-26 10:01:20 UTC
I have checked the newly released MTV 2.1.0 operator and the description is definitely too short.
There have already been changes done upstream, so we need to ensure that MTV 2.2.0 provides a better description, with a least a link to the official documentation.

Comment 3 Fabien Dupont 2021-10-12 11:35:24 UTC
Please verify with mtv-operator-bundle-2.2.0-41 / iib:122011, or later.

Comment 4 Maayan Hadasi 2021-10-14 10:22:48 UTC
Verified with mtv-operator-bundle-2.2.0-43 / iib: 123020

There is a 'Documentation' section on the MTV installer page with a note and link to https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/migration_toolkit_for_virtualization/
("Documentation can be found on the Red Hat Customer Portal.")
