Checked on 4.6.0-0.nightly-2021-09-21-161128.

Rebooted master nodes and performed a cluster upgrade, do not see api-server being killed.

$ oc get clusterversion
NAME      VERSION                             AVAILABLE   PROGRESSING   SINCE   STATUS
