Description Fabian Deutsch 2021-08-25 13:03:08 UTC
Document URL: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.8/virt/install/virt-planning-environment-object-maximums.html

Section Number and Name:

Describe the issue: The doc does not contain enough hard numbers compared to https://access.redhat.com/articles/906543#red-hat-virtualization-4x-limits-2

Suggestions for improvement: Add hard numbers based on the testing that CNV QE did on the past.

Comment 6 Jean-Francois Saucier 2021-12-08 15:01:11 UTC
Just to put the kbase draft here : https://access.redhat.com/articles/6571671

Comment 7 Fabian Deutsch 2021-12-15 10:04:37 UTC
With the KCS draft available, I've created a PR to point the OCP V docs to this new kcs:
https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/pull/39886

@ctomasko who can help to review the PR?

Comment 8 Fabian Deutsch 2021-12-15 10:04:55 UTC
As agreed with @mtessun the goal is to replace the in-docs scale and limits section with a pointer to the KCS https://access.redhat.com/articles/6571671.
Similar to how it is done in the RHV Planning guide section 2.2. See https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.4/pdf/planning_and_prerequisites_guide/red_hat_virtualization-4.4-planning_and_prerequisites_guide-en-us.pdf

@jsaucier and @fdeutsch I'll clone this bug and assign the issue to Lavanya. You can contact her to review the PR.

Comment 12 Pan Ousley 2022-01-05 20:30:22 UTC
I have opened the following PR for the doc update (based on Fabian's submission): https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/pull/40294

Fabian, please review when you can. Thanks!

Comment 13 Fabian Deutsch 2022-01-06 10:22:54 UTC
The PR looks good. But one thing that you identified, Pan, is something we need to address: All OCP V docs should point to this KCS; but the KCS does not differentiate between the versions, this can lead to confusion.

Let me work with @jsaucier to consider to rework the kcs to include the OCP versions, then we should be good to proceed with this PR.

Comment 14 Fabian Deutsch 2022-01-06 14:04:27 UTC
https://access.redhat.com/articles/6571671 got updated and is now version specific, thus we can proceed with the PR, I'll comment there.

Comment 15 Fabian Deutsch 2022-01-06 15:13:02 UTC
PR lgtm, it should be applied to 4.9 and 4.10 branches

Comment 16 Fabian Deutsch 2022-01-13 13:46:00 UTC
KCS looks good and is published.
PR still pending

(In reply to Fabian Deutsch from comment #16)
> KCS looks good and is published.

I have requested that @kbidarka review the PR from the QE perspective before I merge.

Kedar, please take a look when you are able: https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/pull/40294 Thanks!

Comment 18 Pan Ousley 2022-01-13 22:33:22 UTC
Thanks for the review, Kedar! I have merged and cherrypicked the PR to 4.9 and 4.10. The changes will be live soon.

Comment 19 Kedar Bidarkar 2022-01-20 14:46:57 UTC
Provided LGTM on the above PR.

@pousley - In looking through the comments, I am noting that you completed the content development associated with this defect. Defect is currently in Verified state. Can you please move it to Release_Pending state when it is appropriate. Originally, I was assigned with the defect, but I believe you had ownership and completed it. Thanks!

Comment 25 Pan Ousley 2022-02-22 20:50:56 UTC
The KCS that Jean-Francois created[1] is published and the link[2] is live in the docs.

[1] https://access.redhat.com/articles/6571671
[2] https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.9/virt/install/virt-planning-environment-object-maximums.html

IMO, this can be closed CURRENTRELEASE but I'm checking with Jean-Francois first because the bug is assigned to him.

Thanks for the reminder, Lavanya!
