Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Grant Gainey 2021-09-01 18:46:52 UTC
Description of problem:

We currently ship libsolv-0.7.17.el7 with Satellite. There are fixes post-17 that help with memory and reliability problems with publish-with-depsolving.

0.7.19 has been tagged and released into pypi, and is built for fedora-35 upstream. There are two commits post-19 that would be quite lovely to have as well:

* https://github.com/openSUSE/libsolv/commit/8615575144e6fd3d708a30983ed2415db479ef4c
* https://github.com/openSUSE/libsolv/commit/ccc2ec885a81de137c30fd0deb8c5475440e5287

Having python3-libsolv- and libsolv-0.7.19 plus those two commits would be optimal. But just 0.7.19 as-tagged makes a noticeable improvement in our ongoing work to improve the performance/memory-footprint of Pulp3's copy-with-depsolving path.

NOTE: This is not required for 6.10beta, but in support of 6.10GA.

VERIFIED.

@Satellite 6.10.0 Snap23
libsolv-0.7.20-1.el7pc.x86_64

by the following manual step:

# rpm -q libsolv
libsolv-0.7.20-1.el7pc.x86_64

>>> newer libsolv rpm is shipped now
