I'd love to point out that docker-compose was rewritten from Python to Go. I don't know if the go version is packaged in Fedora, but the python one will likely never receive new upstream updates.

Do you plan to update the package? It seems that the current version fails to build with pytest 7.2 we are preparing.
as I wrote over here https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2000794#c47 this is never going to be updated as the current version of docker-compose is written in golang and the python implementation was discontinued if the current docker-compose breaks a pytest update, docker-compose would need to be downstream-patched

As I explained in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2000794#c47 docker-compose was rewritten from python to golang so this bug is no longer relevant; if you want to get the latest golang version, you need to package it yourself or pick it up from Sergio: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2000794#c67 I picked up maintaining the python version in the meantime but I don't expect to do any changes since it was discontinued upstream If someone wants to maintain the new golang version, we can rename this python implementation so that "docker-compose" package is the latest: please contact me in such a case
(In reply to Tomas Tomecek from comment #75) I'm studying go packaging , I think I'm near because finally found the key which is go2rpm

Hi Sergio, I've checked your copr on Fedora 38. I tried to upgrade the docker-compose package, but it failed: ``` Skipping packages with conflicts: (add '--best --allowerasing' to command line to force their upgrade): moby-engine x86_64 20.10.23-1.fc38 fedora 29 M moby-engine x86_64 24.0.5-1.fc38 updates 28 M Skipping packages with broken dependencies: docker-compose x86_64 2.10.2-1 copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:sergiomb:docker4 7.6 M ``` The current package https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/docker-compose doesn't depend on moby-engine, and can be used with podman socket without any problems: ``` $ export DOCKER_HOST=unix://$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/podman/podman.sock $ systemctl --user start podman.socket ``` Let's drop that dependency, wdyt?
