Description Troy Dawson 2021-09-17 15:34:10 UTC
libpinyin is a build and runtime requirement of maliit-keyboard.
maliit-keyboard is a new runtime requirement of plasma-workspace, a critical piece of the KDE Plasma Desktop.

Please branch and build libpinyin in epel8-next and epel8. I asking for epel8-next because that is where the new KDE Plasma Desktop currently is.

If you do not wish to maintain libpinyin in epel8, or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner, I would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package.

Comment 1 Troy Dawson 2021-09-17 15:35:29 UTC

One other thing. The F34 version of libpinyin builds on epel8-next with no changes needed.

Comment 3 Jens Petersen 2021-09-20 02:57:51 UTC
I think we need to move RHEL libpinyin-devel to CRB at least
for both RHEL 8 and 9.

Troy, can you open a bug against RHEL, please?

Comment 4 Troy Dawson 2021-09-20 13:19:49 UTC
You are correct, sorry about not checking the base OS.
I'll get a CRB request made, and then close this bug with a pointer to it.

Closing this bug since libpinyin is in RHEL8.
