Hi Evert,

To be honest the question is not clear. We have a lot of custom patches, which were applied to vsftpd in Fedora repository.
71 patch in spec file:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/vsftpd/blob/rawhide/f/vsftpd.spec

I don't know why those patches weren't sent upstream. I just inherited the package like that.
I also asked Chris Evans (author of vsftpd) if it's possible to backport patches upstream and the result is that these patches not going to end up upstream.
At the moment I think that the easiest solution is to just backport features from the new version on demand since the package is not expected to be actively developed in the future and get new versions.

However, this might change in the future, but at the moment I see it this way.

Closing as a duplicate since the tracking bug for the new version already exists.

Thanks,
Artem
