Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

Your package (python-javabridge) Fails To Install in Fedora 36:

can't install python3-javabridge:
  - nothing provides rhino needed by python3-javabridge-1.0.19-4.fc35.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors.

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

Hello,

This is the first reminder (step 3 from https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/#_package_removal_for_long_standing_ftbfs_and_fti_bugs).

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

Hi Miro,
there's a request as bug #2007791 to re-review rhino package as the missing dependency because currently retired. If that won't happen in affordable time it's okay for me to orphan or retire python-javabridge.

Comment 3 Miro Hrončok 2021-10-04 18:51:52 UTC

Yes, that should be OK, nothing depends on it.

Comment 4 Raphael Groner 2021-10-14 16:53:34 UTC
Tests give error for a rebuild. Tried to explicitly add rhino-engine and rhino-runtime as dependencies. What's missing?

> javabridge.jutil.JavaException: org/mozilla/javascript/Context

Try with propably new upstream and more current version. https://github.com/CellProfiler/python-javabridge

Comment 5 Raphael Groner 2021-10-14 17:18:35 UTC
See also https://github.com/BjarneHerland/python-javabridge for newer releases.

Comment 6 Didik Supriadi 2021-10-15 07:30:41 UTC
The location of rhino is moved to %{_javadir}/rhino/rhino.jar instead of %{_javadir}/rhino.jar.
Since previously this is not the case, I've added some backward compatibility in rhino: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rhino/c/3ab80676f2e841b57c35c65836baab3c9cd22ca5.patch

You might try to build it once again.

Comment 7 Didik Supriadi 2021-10-15 11:03:42 UTC
as suggested by mizdebsk, you could also Requires javapackages-tools and execute `find-jar org.mozilla:rhino` to find the jar.

Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

All subpackages of a package against which this bug was filled are now installable or removed from Fedora 36.

Thanks for taking care of it!
