Translations or a feature unable to accept a translated text would qualify as a blocker. Since it renders the feature broken for users of a specific language/keyboard layout. Currently, I failed to input text in japanese (kana-kanji) and Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin)
Broken for Japnese Kana Kanji as well.
I can confirm this with Chinese (Intelligent Pinyin). However, using Czech special characters works just fine, so this issue here is more complex than "nothing but ASCII works".
Actually, I found a way to rename "Utilities" (or a custom app group). Doesn't work: * type "aa" (which produces 阿阿), hit Enter. Gets rewritten to "aa". * type "aa" (which produces 阿阿), hit Esc. The original value is retained. (Note: While this could be expected, because Esc is used to cancel an operation, this is not the case here. With an English keyboard, the new value is saved, even if you hit Esc.) Works: * type "aa" (which produces 阿阿), hit Space, hit Enter. The new value is saved. I can confirm the same behavior in gedit. Writing "aa" produces 阿阿, but only if you hit Space afterwards. If you hit Enter instead, it reverts back to "aa". So perhaps we just don't know how to use this keymap?
As kparal says, I think there isn't a real bug here, just a misunderstanding of how input methods work. I tested in Japanese and if I input a Japanese word correctly, I can rename a group to it. The behaviour of how the existing name gets selected/replaced seems slightly odd, but I don't know if it's wrong exactly.

That's what I figured (see comment #5) but was leaving it open in case sumantro and kparal disagreed. I think it should probably be closed as NOTABUG.
I tested multiple input methods and all seems to work well. Closing this as NOTABUG
