Description of problem:
Topology breaks when clicking anywhere on the empty state.

How reproducible:


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an ns and navigate to the topology
2. Click anywhere in the empty state

Actual results:
Topology breaks with TypeError
target.closest is not a function

Expected results:
Should not break and show any error

Additional info:

It is happening on the latest master on 27th Sep.

Verified on 4.10.0-0.nightly-2021-10-02-095441 

works as expected.
