Description sumantro 2021-09-30 16:53:36 UTC
Description of problem:

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a Google Meet with a link
2. Add the Gmail account which has the meeting in the calendar
3. Populate the Gnome Calendar App
4. See the meeting pop up with the button "join"
5. Clicking on the button will get redirected to invalid link page

Actual results:

Should not be happening

Expected results:

Should load the meeting page

Additional info:

This is confirmed when the google meet ID is "abc-pqr-xyz" . The last character z is truncated and hence the meeting link wont open up. Red Hat uses Gmeet widely and so does many of our users. Even if this happens to not affect BJN, we should definitely get this fixed

Comment 1 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2021-09-30 16:58:59 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker and Freeze Exception for 35-final by Fedora user sumantrom using the blocker tracking app because:

Comment 2 Adam Williamson 2021-10-04 21:58:17 UTC
Can you report this upstream too, Sumantro? I had a quick look and didn't see a report. Thanks!

Comment 3 František Zatloukal 2021-10-05 10:04:54 UTC
Discussed during the 2021-10-04 blocker review meeting: [1]

The decision to classify this bug as an RejectedBlocker and AcceptedFreezeException was made:

"On balance, there's a consensus that this isn't quite serious enough to constitute "core functionality" for GNOME Calendar. however, it is definitely an annoying problem and would be good to have fixed for fresh installs, so it is accepted as a freeze exception issue."

Ping Sumantro, for reporting this upstream.

Comment 5 Ben Cotton 2022-11-29 17:06:17 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 35 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 35 on 2022-12-13.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '35'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 35 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 6 Adam Williamson 2022-11-30 18:20:03 UTC
@sumukher ping, again, did you ever report this upstream?

Comment 7 Ben Cotton 2022-12-13 15:37:26 UTC
Fedora Linux 35 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2022-12-13.

Fedora Linux 35 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 8 Kamil Páral 2022-12-15 14:29:02 UTC
I tested this now on Fedora 37 with gnome-calendar-43.1-3.fc37.x86_64 and it seems to work fine, the Google Meet URL is not truncated. (The Join button next to it doesn't seem to do anything, but the URL itself works just fine when clicking on it).

Comment 9 Red Hat Bugzilla 2023-09-18 04:26:34 UTC
