Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Lai 2021-10-14 17:38:51 UTC
Description of problem:
There's only one mode of dependency solving in pulp3 and it only uses conservative depsolving (equivalent to "recursive_conservative" in pulp2). Since we only use one mode now, it's best to remove "Greedy" from the UI so customers don't get confused.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.10_023

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Administer -> settings -> content tab -> Content View Dependency Solving Algorithm
2. Edit dependency solving

Actual results:
See both "Conservative" and "Greedy"

Expected results:
Request to remove or deprecate "Greedy"

Additional info:

Comment 1 Samir Jha 2021-11-05 15:58:50 UTC

Comment 2 Bryan Kearney 2021-11-30 16:05:37 UTC
Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite since the upstream issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/33859 has been resolved.

Comment 3 Sam Bible 2021-12-21 20:48:23 UTC
Steps to Retest:
1) Administer -> Settings -> Content Tab

Results:
There is no longer an entry for Content View Dependency Solving Algorithm

Expected results:
Request to remove or deprecate "Greedy"

Verified on 7.0.0-3
