Created attachment 1835131 [details] Video showing the problem at 35 seconds [mfabian@fedora ~]$ cat /etc/fedora-release Fedora release 35 (Thirty Five) [mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q gnome-shell gnome-shell-41.0-4.fc35.x86_64 [mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q ibus ibus-1.5.25-4.fc35.x86_64 [mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q ibus-typing-booster ibus-typing-booster-2.14.13-1.fc35.noarch [mfabian@fedora ~]$ When ibus-typing-booster is used with the Gnome on-screen keyboard, it is sometimes not possible to see where a candidate starts and where it ends. See the attached video. At 35 seconds into the video, and “E” is typed and the candidates shown above the keys of the on-screen keyboard are: “English text English E EB EC EM” The first two words, “English text” are actually **one** candidate, but that is not visible. This is very confusing.
In the attachment in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2015978#c2 one can see how SwiftKey on Android renders multi-word candidates. I typed “I” using SwiftKey and got the candidates: “have”, “have attached”, and “am”. The multi-word candidate “have attached” is clearly distinguishable as a single candidate because all the candidates are rendered into buttons which look similar to the keys of the virtual keyboard below. I think it would be a nice improvement for the Gnome on-screen keyboard to do that in a similar way.
