Screenshot using ibus-anthy with the on-screen keyboard. There is no way to access additional candidates.

[mfabian@fedora ~]$ cat /etc/fedora-release
Fedora release 35 (Thirty Five)
[mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q gnome-shell
gnome-shell-41.0-4.fc35.x86_64
[mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q ibus
ibus-1.5.25-4.fc35.x86_64
[mfabian@fedora ~]$ rpm -q ibus-typing-booster
ibus-typing-booster-2.14.13-1.fc35.noarch
[mfabian@fedora ~]$

The attached screenshot shows using ibus-anthy with the Gnome on-screen keyboard.

“shou” has been typed by clicking the keys on the on-screen keyboard.

The preedit shows 賞

The list of candidates at the top of the on-screen keyboard shows:

賞 背負う しょう 小 少 商 省 章 勝 将

But there are more candidates for the input “shou” and there is no way to access them.

Normal candidate list when using ibus-anthy with a hardware keyboard

The normal candidate list shows at the top that there are 302 candidates total.

Only 10 are shown in the first page.

But one can scroll down to the next page using the Page_Down key (does not exist on the on-screen keyboard) or using the arrow buttons at the bottom of the candidate list or using the mouse wheel.

Arrow buttons like this should probably be added to the Gnome on-screen keyboard when there are more candidates than can be shown on the first page.

3 Screenshots put next to each other showing SwiftKey on Android using Japanese

The left screenshot shows how it looks like when “shou” (transliterated to しょう) has been typed.

Only four candidates are shown, the 4th candidate is partly obscured by a button with a triangle pointing down.

When tapping on the button with the triangle pointing down, one gets what is shown in the second screenshot.

More candidates are shown in the second screenshot.

Now one can scroll through the list of candidates sliding the finger over the list.

That way one arrives at the third screenshot further down in the long list of candidates.

Problem still exists in F39

Comment 9 Fedora Admin user for bugzilla script actions 2023-12-06 08:21:22 UTC
This component is maintained by the GNOME project. Issues with it should be reported directly to GNOME at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/.

This issue should only be kept open if it:

1. Relates to Fedora packaging or integration with other Fedora components
2. Is required for Fedora release processes, such as blocker bugs and freeze exceptions

If this issue isn't needed for either of these two reasons, please:

 * create an issue with GNOME
 * add a link to the GNOME issue here
 * close this issue as CLOSED/UPSTREAM

Thank you!
