I can confirm I have the same issue, and it started happening as soon as I migrated to Fedora 35 (with a clean install). I tried installing extra libs related to id3 tags, nothing helped. It seems to be system-wide, since Lollypop can't find mp3 with id3 tags, but finds m4a files without a problem. =/ Also, I've installed EasyTag to confirm my id3 tags were there, and they were, so it's 100% a reading issue.
Hello, i can confirm the regression after the upgrade from f34 to f35. Something i noticed : all songs that i had before in my library show tags in Rhythmbox, new mp3's not. Cheers Yves
this issue also leads to lollypop not finding mp3s in our music collection related issue comment there: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/lollypop/-/issues/2846#note_1303235 seems like gstreamer isn't working as expected? i also noticed that gst-typefind-1.0 thinks my mp3 files have the type 'application/x-id3' which seems weird but might be unrelated
i think this is a duplicate of bug #2011870, which means the upstream issue is https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/issues/759 and this will be fixes in gstreamer 1.19.3
