Description Ilanit Stein 2021-11-04 14:40:20 UTC
Please document for MTV-2.2 only that for warm migration the Get logs will not be available.
(For cold migration it will be available).
This is due to bug 2016290 mentioned below.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #2020297 +++

Description of problem:

On MTV-2.2 having the CDI importer pod retained fails the warm migration from VMware.
This is due to a OCPv storage CDI bug 2016290-"[Warm] Warm Migration Fails and reporting ambiguous status"
As a temporary solution in MTV-2.2 till this mentioned bug is fixed,
Disable retaining these pods.
This will allow warm migration from VMware to work properly,
but on MTV-2.2 the "Get Logs" option will not be available.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

MTV-2.2

The virt-v2v pod is not involved, it's just the importers.

Comment 2 Avital Pinnick 2021-11-11 09:21:13 UTC
I will add this to the release notes as a known issue.

Comment 4 Ilanit Stein 2021-11-12 09:01:55 UTC
Thanks Avital,

PR LGTM.

When clicking "Get Logs" in UI or warm migration and opening the directory that keeps the logs

/home/<usaername>/Downloads/must-gather-<VM name>/must-gather/namespaces/<name space>/logs/current.log

This is it's content:

error: expected 'logs [-f] [-p] (POD | TYPE/NAME) [-c CONTAINER]'.
POD or TYPE/NAME is a required argument for the logs command
See 'oc logs -h' for help and examples

Do you think we should document that as well?
