Description Leonardo Garcia 2021-11-16 20:41:14 UTC
Description of problem:

gnome-todo doesn't start with Fedora 35, GNOME 41 on Wayland.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

gnome-todo-41.0-1.fc35.x86_64

How reproducible:

100% of the times the application is started.

Steps to Reproduce:

I have Fedora 35 with all the latest updates available as of now. I am running GNOME3 41 with Wayland on an Intel integrated graphics card in a Lenovo T490 laptop.

When I start gnome-todo I receive the following message in a console:

(gnome-todo:1141127): Adwaita-WARNING **: 17:40:27.187: Using GtkSettings:gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme with libadwaita is unsupported. Please use AdwStyleManager:color-scheme instead.

Gdk-Message: 17:40:27.405: Error flushing display: Protocol error

Actual results:

gnome-todo doens't start.

Expected results:

gnome-todo should start without issues.

Problem is still present on Fedora 36, GNOME 42.

gnome-todo *does* start with the above warning, but it does not display anything (the app is just an empty dark (or white) rectangle/window, depending on the chosen theme).

Is it possible to request a 42 tag in upstream or is the latest 42 "alpha" commit usable for the package?

Comment 5 Dmitry Burstein 2022-06-26 11:16:44 UTC
Can confirm on F36 with Gnome 42.2

Comment 6 Greg Kable 2022-07-26 06:46:29 UTC
Also encountered on F36 with Gnome 42.3

Comment 7 Christian Stadelmann 2022-08-04 14:12:08 UTC
The crash cause on Fedora 36 is described in this upstream bug: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Endeavour/-/issues/446
It should be fixed by updating GNOME Todo (which has been renamed to "Endeavour") to version 42 (see bug #2115361).

As far as I can see, the crash on Fedora 35 is specific to wayland and unrelated to the crash in Fedora 36. If you want to continue discussing the crash in Fedora 36, please create a new bug report or reuse bug #2115361.

Comment 8 Liam Coogan 2023-01-08 12:44:50 UTC
This bug is still present on Fedora 37 with Gnome-Todo 41.0.5

Comment 9 Ben Cotton 2023-04-25 16:46:05 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '36'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 10 Ludek Smid 2023-05-25 16:49:14 UTC
Fedora Linux 36 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2023-05-16.

Fedora Linux 36 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
