Description Andreas Mueller 2021-11-27 10:51:16 UTC
1. Please describe the problem:
Since the upgrade to 5.15.x kernels I have regular GPU hangs on my integrated Iris Xe Graphics.

Hang occurs in both the Plasma Wayland session and SDDM which is using X11.

Reverting to 5.14.18 kernel fixes the issue.

Machine: Lenovo T14 Gen2 Intel
DE: Plasma 5.23.3 (X11)
CPU: 11th Gen Intel i7-1165G7
GPU: Intel TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics]

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:
5.15.4

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :
5.15.4

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:
Boot kernel 5.15.4 and use KDE 5.23.3 with Wayland or X11

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:
not tested

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:
No

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

dmesg:

Same problem here on Dell XPS 13 (9310) with. Same log messages. Same GPU.

The same problem exists with 5.16.0-0-rc2 from rawhide.

Reverted to 5.14.18 which works fine.

Comment 3 rickw 2021-11-29 19:27:12 UTC
Same here, on an HP 15-eg0067st - same log - same cpu/gpu - sddm

Comment 4 jfceklosky 2021-11-30 16:40:48 UTC
I have a Dell 7506 with the same issues. Please patch the 5.15.X kernel series.
